Job Description

Safe Harbor Marinas, the nation’s largest owner and operator of marinas, has an immediate opening for a full time, or seasonal, Dockmaster at their Stratford Marina located in beautiful Stratford, CT.


Job Type: Full time with competitive compensation and a gracious benefits package

Job Duties:

  • Coordinate fuel and docking operations.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable facility including bathrooms and grounds.
  • Oversee dock staff to ensure work is being completed properly and efficiently. 
  • Create and maintain positive customer relations.
  • Responsible for batch out of fuel dock and reconciliation of fuel.
  • Responsible for state grant proposals and documents.


  • High school diploma or general education certificate (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • 4-5 years' experience as a is preferred



Job Requirements:

  • Proficient math skills.
  • Knowledge of nautical terms and environmental conditions. 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Must be self motivated, hard working, and willing to learn new things.

Physical Requirements:

  • Pull in or fend off boats.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 50 Ibs.
  • Extensive periods of standing or running.
  • Ability to climb a ladder.
